Elliswick LTC Newsletter – August 2020

Dear Members,

Welcome to our August Newsletter.

We hope that this newsletter finds you and your family well and that you all are enjoying the remainder of the summer.

Up-dated COVID-19 Guidelines

The LTA has recently updated its guidelines following the Government’s recent quarantine directives. If you are required to self-isolate for any reason then you should also not exercise outside your own home or garden and should not exercise with others. This includes if you have been asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace because you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case, or if you have returned from a travel destination not included on the Government’s travel corridor list. In all of these instances, you should not leave your home to play tennis. Can you please observe these guidelines, especially if you have recently returned from a trip abroad and are required by the Government to quarantine.

GROUNDS & CLUBHOUSE

One floodlight mast is misbehaving, we have contacted Abacus to arrange for its repair.
We will continue to work on treating and painting the benches and tables. We will hopefully get to paint the fence on the drive as well.
The hedge between the front car park and courts 1-3 will be trimmed, there will be some disruption for parking and possibly playing while it is done. We will communicate the date to members as and when.

SOCIAL TENNIS

Reminder – if you wish to join in the ladies morning on Tuesdays at 9am and/or the mix-in on Thursdays at 9am or 10:30am, please contact Andree Haxton at [email protected] to register your interest. And if you wish to play in the ladies night on Wednesday from 6pm, please contact Victoria Aitchison.

We require a volunteer to step forward to organise the Social Mix-in on Saturday and Sunday Mornings. Please do not hesitate to register your interest by emailing [email protected].

LADIES TENNIS

Winter teams: Captains will make contact with their teams with regard to availability when match dates are known. If there are ladies who would like to be considered for teams that do not already play, please contact Victoria Aitchison as soon as possible.
Ladies evenings have proved really popular this Summer with a great number of ladies getting games each week.
Doubles and singles ladders: lots of great matches have taken place, particularly doubles matches. These will continue, with new scoresheets going up for the month of September.

MIXED TEAM TENNIS

The East Herts Winter Mixed League will commence from October this year, slightly later than planned. We have entered 6 teams.

There may also be some Datchworth friendlies in the Autumn.
If you would like to play, having not already played before in teams, please let [email protected] know.  She will be consulting with the captains during September around the dates and guidelines – as we know more we will feed this down to the teams.
