ELLISWICK LTC NEWS UPDATE – 050620
Dear Members
Following the Committee Zoom meeting on Monday the 1st June 2020, we would like to update you with the following information:
- Junior Captain
We are pleased to announce that Ken Mitchie has agreed to take on the role of Junior Captain to replace Deborah Temple. Many thanks to Deborah for all her hard work and a very warm welcome to Ken on his joining the ELTC Committee.
- Junior Play
We would like to welcome our juniors back on court accompanied by their parents (members or not) in accordance with the following guidelines :
- Juniors members may play but only with at least one adult on or at the side of the court (whether singles or doubles). The adult may play, if they are a playing member, or just supervise, if they are a non-playing member.Adults who currently are not members are now temporarily allowed to book courts for their juniors for the duration of the lockdown period – their court booking privileges will be revoked once the lockdown period is over.
- The adult will be fully responsible for the junior member’s adherence to the Club’s COVID-19 guidelines on the website – members will be subject to disciplinary action and non-members will cease to be allowed to book a court should the junior players not adhere. We are at this stage not imposing age restrictions on juniors – parents must judge whether their children are capable of adhering to the Club’s guidelines.
Please note the ELTC court booking policy below:
- Adults have priority over Juniors on all courts from 8:00am to 15:30pm.
- Juniors may play and have priority on courts from 15:30pm until 18:00pm Mon-Fri, if not used for coaching. Also, juniors generally have priority on Court 5 except during:
- adult mix-in sessions
- 08:00-12:00 on Saturdays
- 10:00-12:00 Sundays
- when booked for coaching

- Ladies Tennis
As we are currently unable to congregate and socialise inside and outside of the club house for the foreseeable, ladies nights, which traditionally take place each Wednesday from 6pm, will not be able to go ahead. However if any ladies would like to play in an arranged groups of 4’s, our ladies Captain, Victoria Aitchison is more than happy to arrange this. If you could please let her know if you would like to be included on a weekly Whatsapp group, Victoria will set one up. Please let her know as soon as possible on 07429 581034 and she will set up a group and let you know how it will work going forward.
In addition for any ladies wishing to play some competitive tennis within the club, Victoria will be setting up some singles and doubles ladders. Please could you email her asap if you would like to be included at [email protected] . If you are intending to play doubles please give her the name of your partner. Depending on the number of players, she will be grouping them to encourage match play and rematches within the groups.
Both the ladies night 4’s and ladders are open to players of all abilities. It would be lovely to welcome any new members as well as established members.
- Men’s Tennis
Our Men’s Captain is also organising a Men’s ladder (doubles only). Please contact Rupert Tillbrooke on 07789811097 by 14th June 2020 if you are interested. Rupert will also be entering teams in the Herts Winter Men’s Vets League. If you’d like to be considered to play in men’s team tennis, please do not hesitate to contact Rupert directly.
- Court Booking
This is a reminder that if you no longer need to use the court that you have booked, please cancel it as far in advance as possible in order to give other members an opportunity to book the unused court.
