Elliswick LTC Newsletter – December 2023
Dear Members,
Welcome to our December Newsletter. We hope you and your family have had a very happy and healthy Christmas and holiday period.
CLUB AGM
Thank you to all those who attended the AGM on Saturday the 2nd December, which went very smoothly, with around 126 members either attending or sending their proxy. We would like to thank you for all your support.
We are pleased to announce that the following members have been appointed as the new committee members:
Mixed Team Captain: Amy Martin
Junior Secretary: Marc Stacey
Please support them in serving their roles at the club.
CLUB CENTENARY
Elliswick will be one hundred years old this year! We are planning a number of events to mark our centenary starting with a celebratory evening on Wednesday 21st February at 7 pm. As you will see from the attached poster, David Kendall will give a talk about the Club’s history and we will show a video made by and featuring club members. Please come along and share your stories about Elliswick over a drink or two!
MEMBERSHIP
You will all receive your membership renewal on Monday 1st January. To pay this, you need to log into your LTA Advantage account. If you have not yet created this, here is the link again:
https://www.lta.org.uk/advantage/
Of course, you have until the end of February to pay this; however, you will get a 5% discount, as usual, if you pay by 31st January.
If you are now a full-time student living away from home, please let us know, so we can offer you Student Membership at the appropriate rate.
It is the responsibility of all members 16 and over to make sure all the details in your LTA Advantage account are correct and up to date, including full address and contact phone number. This is a club requirement.
If you have any difficulties with your account, we are running a help desk at the club on Tuesday Jan 2nd, Fri Jan 5th and Sat Jan 6th, all from 10-12 in the morning. Please bring you own laptop or tablet for this.
Please note that there will be no support available from Jan 16th until Feb 10th.
If you have any queries regarding Memberships please contact Sally Radcliffe, Membership Secretary at [email protected]
GROUNDS & CLUBHOUSE
Monday 8th January – Deeks will upgrade the wiring for the underfloor heating and to modify the floodlight controls. The power could be switched off for short periods but any disruption should be minor.
Tuesday 23rd January – the clubhouse will undergo a deep cleaning. Access to some areas will be limited.
TEAM TENNIS
All the winter matches are well underway, with some matches being cancelled recently due to the weather. All have been rescheduled to play in the new year.
If anyone interested in participating in any of the teams, please let our respective captains know, as follows:
Ladies Captain: Kate Curson at [email protected]
Mens Captain: Jem Collier-Garrity at [email protected]
Mixed Team Captain: Amy Martin at [email protected]
Junior Secretary: Marc Stacey at [email protected]
SOCIALS
It has been a great year for our social activities at the club. In December 2023 we held 3 charity events. In early December, we had a great Ladies Charity Christmas lunch with around 30 ladies brought a plate to share. From the proceeds we donated over £150 to our local RDA.
The Music and Magic Evening ran by our own Tim Sutton and organised by Sally Radcliffe raised over £1000 for the world’s forgotten children charity.
Charity Christmas Jazz Jam ran by David Pankhurst for Medicines sans Frontiers (Doctors without borders) managed to raise £100.
Our thanks to all the organisers and our ever-generous members who supported the events.
We have been busy planning a calendar of events for 2024, our centenary year! Please see attached and be sure to mark some of these important events in your diary.
Event in January:
18th January – Pub Night at The Old Cock Inn from 7.30pm. Just turn up and meet some members!
Events in February:
10th – Out of the Blue featuring Ross Ellis. This will be a lively evening of music and dancing. Tickets can be bought here: https://forms.gle/qBYg55SUd1TYM9JTA

If you would like to receive regular editions of the bulletin, please let Herts LTA know at [email protected] and they will add you to the distribution list.
